Home Mover Service Launched by Talktalk

Internet service provider, TalkTalk has set up a service this week targeted towards home movers who don’t want the hassle of setting up a new broadband connection.

Priced at £29.99 for existing TalkTalk customers or £59.99 for new subscribers, the TalkTalk Home Mover Service means there is no need for anybody moving house into a non-cable area to sign up to BT first before switching suppliers.

TalkTalk Broadband estimated previously, existing TalkTalk customers had to sign up to BT for a 12-month contract in their new property and then cancel it before the expiration date in order to switch back to TalkTalk – a process that cost approximately £120.

Now the Home Mover service means TalkTalk will take onboard the obligations of providing a service in the new property, making sure the customer doesn’t have to pay the full £120.

Speaking on the scheme Wendy Becker, MD of TalkTalk, said: “customers have more than enough to worry about when moving home, so we’re pleased to be able to take the hassle – and a lot of the cost – out of the process of getting your home phone and broadband up and running.”

To make use of TalkTalk’s Home Mover service existing TalkTalk customers are invited to call the customer support team on 0870 444 1820 as soon as they find out the details of their moving date. This should be done at least fourteen days before they move house. New customers have a dedicated number and can call 0800 049 1424.
